In this 1st chapter of 1 Corinthians Paul encourages and rebukes the church at Corinth. There was so much infighting, division, and cliques within the church that it was a miracle that they were a church at all. They had some really good things they were doing but they had a lot of very bad things they were doing as well. Paul will address both in this Epistle starting in chapter 1.
